ALASKA MISSION FOR CHRIST

Peace Lutheran has been sending a team to Copper Center, Alaska since 2012. This “hammer & nails” mission trip shares the love of Christ by helping the people of this remote region receive the basic necessities of life. God provides many opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those who are being served. Peace has now formed an enduring relationship with the people of Copper Center and Mt. Drum Lutheran Church. Contact Darrell McDougal at mcdougald@firstweber.com for more information.

GUATEMALA MISSION TEAM

Since 2014 Peace has sponsored a short-term mission team to serve in Guatemala through Pray America:

https://prayamerica.org/what-we-do/

Children and their families are served in the mountainous villages surrounding Chichicastenago in NW Guatemala. Throughout the week, our team learns about the Mayan culture and focuses on building relationships while sharing the gospel and love of Jesus. The team serves alongside the staff of Manos de Jesus (Hands of Jesus) in various programs such as after school education, futbol, and three feeding program sites where Bible classes are held for children & widows.  If there is a need, the team may also have the opportunity to build or repair a house or install a water filter and an efficient wood burning stove.  This is an adult mission trip, but youth with an accompanying parent are welcome to attend. Contact Dan & Sarah Stoehr at 715-484- 2393 or dtstoehr@gmail.com for more information.

PERSONAL MISSIONARY SUPPORT

Peace currently supports Becky Grossman and Lutheran Bible Translators.  Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT), is an independent Lutheran mission organization that is dedicated to helping bring people to faith in Jesus Christ by making the Word of God available to those who do not yet have it in the language of their hearts.

Also serving LBT is Becky Grossman, of Gobles, Michigan. Becky is working with a project to bring God’s Word to the Gola and Dan peoples in Liberia who long to have the Scriptures in their own native tongue. The translation work will be done by teams of local Gola and Dan translators with support from local Liberian churches. Becky is serving as a translation adviser and will be assisting the indigenous translations teams via the Internet and Skype with occasional in-person visits to Liberia
