PEACE LOOKING FOR "FINANCIAL OPERATIONS MANAGER" - This part time position (15-20 hours a week) will oversee and manage the entire financial operations of Peace Lutheran Church and School (income, expenses, paytoll, bills, budget, financial projections, reporting, etc) Resumes may be brought to church office during regular office hours. SCHOOL REGISTRATION IS OPEN! - Stop in our Church/ School Office to pick up a registration packet for our 2010-11 school year. Peace offers Christian education for 4K through 8th grade. Students at Peace learn the truth of God's Word, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, pray in the classroom & apply biblical values to all subjects.

PEACE LUTHERAN BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT - Wednesday, August 25 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Parents and students are invited to join us for food, fellowship, and fun! Classrooms will be open from 5-7 so that students can bring in school supplies, see their rooms, and get to know their teachers. There will be an opening prayer and staff introducitons in the fellowship hall at 5:30 PM. A meal will be served from 5:30 - 6:30. Come and join us as we celebrate our SPUD FEST theme - "Students of Peace Becoming Ultimate Disciples."

WELCOME TO KEVIN AND JANICE KUSKEtheir children (Matthew, Steven & Gina)! Mr Kuske will be installed as the Principal in our school and Janice as our 4K teacher at the 10:30 AM service on August 29. We will also be re-commissioning the current staff at the same service. There will be a welcome potluck dinner at 11:30 AM or following the end of the service. All are welcome to attend! Please bring a main dish and a salad or dessert. Beverages and tableware will be provided. We will also have a card box available for welcome cards. If you would like to give a gift towards a SCRIP Certificate, you may do that at the SCRIP counter. Join us as we welcome the Kuskes on this special day!

RADIO BROADCAST & FLOWER CHARTS FOR 2010 Do you have a occasion you would like to recognize? What would PLS do with a half million dollars? Peace Lutheran School would create a Technology Club and update the computer lab. We'd also like to add IPod Touches and IPads, as well as photo and video editing software for our students to use. LIFE IS TOUGH BUT GOD IS FAITHFUL! - A new book discussion group is beginning this fall, using the book. Life is Tough, but GOD is Faithful: How to see God's Love in Difficult Times. We'll meet on Tuesday evenings, from 6:30 - 7:30 PM beginning September 14 and finishing up October 26 (6 weeks). The book (by author Sheila Walsh) not only covers trusting God during the difficult times in our lives, but also includes a Bible study on Job. We'll cover 2 chapters (about 30 pages) each session. The book is engaging and easy to read, and it's an interesting and different way to get into the Word of God. We'll do the study portion together, and the answers are even in the back of the book! ADULT INFORMATION CLASS - My Life in Christ will begin Sunday, September 12th through November 28 in the Luther Conference Room at 9:20 AM. This class is intended for those who are considering Peace as their church home. We will explore foundational teachings of our church including the existence of God, the truth of the Bible, the love of Jesus, Baptism, Communion, and the Lutheran Church. Completion of the 11 week course can lead to membership at Peace and also a good review for current members. Sign up at the Information Desk or call the church office at 715-623-2200.

The "Every Kid to Camp" Ministry Auction scheduled for September 11, 2010 has been rescheduled to next year, September 17, 2011. All money raised at the auction goes for free registration for kids 3rd - 8th grade who have never been to a week of summer camp at Camp Luther.

PRAYER AND PRAISE VOLUNTEERS needed: As we begin scheduling for the next year of prayer and praise dates, we're looking for any voices or instrumentalsts who are interested in joining us. Sr High School students and up are welcome to be part of this ministry. If you are interested in participating, please let Dave or Jane Reineke know so that we can include you in our group.

THE ADULT CHOIR will begin rehearsals on Monday evening, September 13 from 6:45 - 8:00 PM in the church. Please come and bring a friend. Grade 9 and up are welcome. For information, call Mrs Kohler at 623-2048.

BRAT FRY FOR HOPE - Support the start of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center/Antigo! Wednesday, September 1 at Lakeside Pharmacy from 10 AM - 2 PM. If you can volunteer to help setup, work, cleanup, or donate a pie - Call Shelly Karolus at 715-350-9421. This is a great opportunity to show our support for this important resource in our community in support of LIFE!

Mission & Ministry Team Aug. 17 Meeting Summary
- New principal, Kevin Kuske, attended and met MMT. Discussion took place with regard to relationship of Board of Ed., Principal, Lead Pastor, and MMT under new structure. 
- Pastor Dave shared a new organization flow chart showing relationships between staff, MMT, and Ministry Action Teams of the congregation.
- We are taking applications for a Financial Operations Manager which is being funded from cuts and changes to secretarial and bookkeeping positions. Mr. Kuske will be overseeing the hiring of a Development Director for the school which will be funded from our Charitable Gifting grant.
- We have applied for a refinanced mortgage with Lutheran Church Extension Fund. Total amount would include current mortgage ($1,808,000) plus short term debt ($170,000) plus amount borrowed from trust savings ($60,000).
- We will be having a "Visioning" event Sat., Oct. 2, 8:30am - 4:00pm at Peace to seek God's will with regard to our ministry plans for the next 3 years. Bob Whipkey from the North WI District office will be facilitating. Congregation, leaders, and staff are encouraged to attend.
- A 3 week series of worship services will begin Sept. 12 on the "3 P's of Peace: Praise, Prepare, Produce."
- The Ministry Leadership Team is planning a 6 week emphasis in January and February on S.H.A.P.E. The goal will be to help each member of Peace discover their Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences. Together these form our unique DNA for ministry as God's people pursuing His mission to make disciples.
- The next MMT meeting will be Tue., Sept. 21 at 5pm.
- Approved minutes of the June 29 MMT meeting are available at the Information counter in the narthex.

SECRETARY NEEDED - The MMT of Peace is in need of a volunteer to attend their meetings and take minutes. Typically this is a 2 hour commitment per month on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 5-7 PM. This will allow all members of the MMT to participate in discussion. Computer typing and organization skills needed. If you can use your talents to serve in this way. please contact Pastor Dave.

CROP WALK FOR HUNGER - Hosted by St Matthew Lutheran Church, White Lake on September 26, registration time is 1:00 PM walk begins at 1:30 PM and the church. 25% of proceeds will suport the county food pantries; 75% of proceeds will support Church World Service global hunger program, but can be directed to LWR.
