New for 2009 - 2010 Part of our 3 year ministry plan is for Peace Lutheran School to move from half day to full day kindergarten. As we do this, we then need room and a teacher for the Pre-Kindergarten. Last week the Peace Voter’s Assembly approved the plan to move from the present 3-day Pre-K to a 4-day 4 K program still in the afternoon. In order to do this with the present staff and rooms we will be using a format that we had five years ago. In the morning both 1st grade and 2nd grade will be taught in separate rooms by separate teachers. In the afternoon, the two grades will be housed in one room with one of the teachers. The other teacher will teach the 4- Kinder program 4 days a week. That means that the first and second grades will have their language arts and math in the morning. In the afternoon, when we often combine these grades for music and gym class, they will be combined. Religion, science and art can easily be taught to both grades together.

HELP SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!
We will be collecting “travel” sized items such as snacks, toothpaste, and soaps for military care packages. Donations will be collected now through the end of December. We will then box up all of the items collected and mail them off to our military personal. We will also need knitters or crocheters to make caps for the soldiers to wear under their helmets. Patterns for the caps and complete lists of items we can send will be available at the information desk. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Donna Fosterling at 627-7922.
MILITARY UPDATES
The Board of Outreach will be updating the Military display we have for our active military personnel. Please contact Sue Harvey at 623-4779 or Donna Fosterling at 627-7922 with the names, addresses, and pictures, if available, of any active military personnel that you would like for us to include on the new display. This can include family, friends, and/or neighbors.
IRA ROLLOVER PROVISION TO SUPPORT LCMS MINISTRIES
Federal legislation has opened new stewardship opportunities to strengthen ministry. The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 allows an individual over the age of 70 1/2 to make a gift up to $100,000 from an individual retirement account (IRA) to ministry without increasing taxable income. The gift to ministry also counts toward the individual’s minimum required distribution. This provision in the legislation is sometimes called the IRA Charitable Rollover.
If you are interested in taking advantage of this special rule contact your IRA account administrator for the necessary paperwork to complete the transfer.
Act quickly if you would like to take advantage of this special rule in 2008. To ensure that the transfer qualifies, the check from the IRA account administrator should be received by the ministry by December 31, 2008, or at the very least mailed to the ministry with a USPS postmark date of December 31, 2008 or earlier.
NEEDED: Addresses for friends and former members of Peace. In January, the Anniversary Committee will be sending out a mailing that includes the special services and activities that Peace will be hosting to celebrate our 125 years in ministry. We would like to include anyone who might be interested in celebrating with us in the upcoming year in this mailing. If you have addresses of former members, or others who would enjoy celebrating God’s blessing with us, please submit their names and addresses to the church office by January 9, or emial them to peace.info@peaceantigo.org
