LUTHERAN WORLD MISSION - is the global Gospel outreach of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod, a confessional Lutheran church with more than 6,000 congregations and 2.6 million members in North America. Our global mission focuses on church planting and leadership development in North America and around the world.

Pastor Dave & Shelly - Mission to Sri Lanka
July 31 - August 19, 2011 Pastor Dave and Shelly traveled to India and Sri Lanka in completion of the Pastoral Leadership Institute program they have participated in over the past 4 years. While in Sri Lanka they worked with a mission team of 4 LCMS pastors and their wives who did education and training with the Lutheran pastors of the Lankan Lutheran Church. They preached in the local churches, and gave encouragement to the pastors and families of that area of the world. They helped in the Lutheran Preschools and conducted a one day VBS while there.

Sri Lanka is a small island nation off the south east coast of India with a population of some 20 million people. Of those, 70% are Buddhist, 15% Hindu, 8% Muslim, and 8% Christian. Pray that many people will hear the Gospel of Jesus through their efforts in that country.

Pictures of their trip are posted on Pastor Dave's Facebook page during the trip. Send a friend request via Facebook to view them. A downloadable prayer letter is attached at the bottom of this page, which has specific daily things you can pray for during their trip.

Lay Minister Luke Fosterling In Japan (Peace Member)
Luke Fosterling
My mission in Japan will be to spread the Word of God through teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). I will teach English at Niigata Nozomi Lutheran Church as well as Niigata University. Building relationships with the people is my second mission. Street Ministry is not exactly the most effective way of working there; I need to build trust with them. This will show them that I truly care about them and am not just trying to get them to do what I want. Once I can build those relationships, I will be coming up with ways of incorporating the Gospel with what I do. I will also be leading an English language Bible study, youth events, and will participate in other church and University events. Follow up is one of the most important parts of ministry! I must continue to feed the church members spiritually, and continue to water the seed that has been planted by myself and others.

1st All Men Mission Trip to Belize City in Partnership with CALMS (Central American Lutheran Mission Society)

Pastor Kruse and new Belize friendOn March 5-13th, eight men of God from Peace Lutheran headed into the deep interior of Belize City for a short-term mission trip for the sake of the Gospel. From construction workers to a police officer to a pastor, CALMS ministry worked in utilizing our gifts and talents to improve the ministry site facility that feeds over 70+ children every morning. We also helped analyze and make recommendations on a Belize police force Christian evangelism team, host a men's fellowship, and minister to neighbor's on Victoria Street who suffered grief. We also developed long lasting friendships with each other and new friendships with our new friends from Belize.
